The Kenshin Trap: - - - Part 1 - - - ************************************************* Kaoru looked solemnly out her bedroom window. It was a rainy day, and she wasn’t much a person for rainy days. She sighed deeply at the rain and thought of Kenshin making breakfast for the dojo. She got up unwillingly, and put on her blue kimono. She liked this one particularly well, being as it was the one Kenshin had recently bought her. She had one Sano had won gambling, her second favorite. Even though it was much more expensive than the one Kenshin had bought her, Kenshin’s ment much more. Kenshin had bought it with the money he made doing work for people around town. The kimono Kenshin had bought her had cherry blossom flowers along the neck. He had done it himself, a trait she didn’t know he had. It was tastefully done in a white thread that seemed to go perfectly with the deep purple that was the kimono’s main color. The sleeves were embroidered (which Kenshin had also done) with the same white flowers, as was the bottom of the kimono. She tied the obi. This obi had come plain white, and Kenshin embroidered it with the flowers, though in purple. The obi was tied with a purple “rope”. She knew Kenshin was talented, but this kimono was well embroidered. He must have worked on it for months. She unfortunately did not have a hair ribbon to match, but to her it didn’t matter. She just wore her favorite blue ribbon, it was more special due to the blood Kenshin had stained on it. She had got most of the blood out. She could smell the rice as she entered the kitchen. She could also smell the fish Kenshin had caught that morning. He was going to make rice balls. Kenshin made wonderful rice balls. She stared at him for a moment through the kitchen door. His hair was down this morning, an unusual thing, but she took it in none the less. “Kaoru-dono, Daijoubu de gozaru ka?” he asked turning around concerned. “Oi Kenshin. I’m alright.” She blushed deeply “I was just curious as to why your hair was down.” “Someone stole my hair tie!” “Well, I think your hair is beautiful.” Kaoru covered her mouth. “I mean-” “Doomo Arigatou Kaoru-dono.” he smiled “I know what you meant.” They stood there and just met eyes for a moment. “Kenshin...” When the rain stopped that afternoon, Kaoru decided that a walk to the town was just what she needed to get her mind off of Kenshin. She decided to visit Megumi, and ask for some advice. She wanted to know how she could get Kenshin to notice her as more than “Kaoru-dono”. She was nervous though, she really hadn’t told anyone, though she thought it was obvious. She would take Megumi to dinner, and ask her for her thoughts and advice. She didn’t know how to ask though, she was shy, and especially shy on the subject of love and romance. Especially when it had to do with Kenshin. As she walked, she noticed the familiar form far ahead of her. The white pants, and white shirt with the black character on the back stood out from far away. He was walking in front of her, his strides long, He was attractive, even Kaoru thought so, but he just was to wild for her. Besides, Kenshin was the only man for her. She blushed at the thought. She often thought of Sanosuke in a more sexual way, although she thought of Kenshin in a more wholesome fashion. Marriage was the only thing she had in sight for her and Kenshin. Well, of corse, making love would come AFTER the wedding, though she wouldn’t mind being with him at any time. She blushed deeper. She was awoken from her thoughts by that deep sexy voice she occasionally dreams about. “Yo, Jou-chan.” She looked up slowly, Sanosuke, was standing beside her. He was smiling at her. She always thought he was a very attractive man. His spiky black hair seemed to suit his face. He had a wonderful smile, though his could never compare to Kenshin’s. “Oi Sano.” She smiled at him “Why don’t you ever wear the kimono that I got you?” “One thing, you won it gambling. Another thing, it’s way to fancy to wear as an every day kimono.” She smiled to herself, often feeling proud of the way she behaved around Sano. “Okay. You’re right. I’ve been having good luck lately. Why don’t I take you to lunch?” “Well, actually...” She thought about it for a moment. This was a one shot deal, he may never ask her to lunch again. “Okay.” I can talk to Megumi tomorrow... “Great!” They traveled silently to the Akabeko. Kaoru seemed to forget her fears about Kenshin and thought about the lunch Sanosuke was buying her. She would have him buy her something expensive, to make up for all the times he used her money to buy lunch or dinner. She giggled. “What’s so funny Jou-chan?” “Oh, nothing. I just thought of something funny.” “And what was that?” He smiled knowing she wouldn’t tell him. “I forgot.” “I knew you wouldn’t tell me.” “Why should I tell YOU!?” Her hands fell on her hips as she faced him to verbally fight with him. Her nose wrinkled, and she remembered one little detail, “Even if I could remember.” She crossed her arms and stuck her nose in the air. “Your so cute when your angry Jou-chan.” Sanosuke tapped her on the forehead then turned and walked toward the Akabeko. Kaoru stopped at that remark. That was totally completely out of character for him. Suddenly she was cute? I’m probably overreacting. I know he didn’t really mean anything by that. She still was confused. “SAAANOOO!!! Wait for me!!!” She ran carefully, and finally caught up with him. “You walk too fast!” He laughed- loudly. “You walk to slow!” He wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “Let’s go get us some food!” She blushed a vivid shade of red when his arm touched her shoulders. “So... How much did you win exactly?” “Enough.” He looked down at her and smiled. He noticed her visible nervousness. “Enough to take you out to eat whatever you want.” “Why aren’t you taking Megumi out?” She was curious about that one, he always seemed to have a thing for megumi. “I owe you a few dinners.” He smiled and Kaoru giggled. Tea sat them at a quiet table in the corner and gave Kaoru a look that said she was watching this table. Sano looked across the table at Kaoru and smiled. She was looking in her tea, and making faces. One of the many things he liked about her was her innocence. That was one of his favorite things about her. Another was her feisty demeanor. The way she would bicker about things. Megumi was the same way, but not really his type. Also, she was three years older than he was. That bothered him quite a bit. Kaoru was two years younger than he was. He had never noticed the feelings he had for her before. Though even more disturbing were the feelings he had begun to feel for Kenshin. To him those were the most disturbing things that had happened to him recently. The dreams were only sexual, and very arousing. Kenshin may be a beautiful man, but he was a MAN, and Sano was a MAN. Men weren’t supposed to have those feelings for other men. Besides, Kenshin was his best friend. “Oi Sano, Kaoru-dono.” Sanosuke blushed upon hearing the voice. Hearing his voice only aroused him more from his thoughts. He watched Kaoru’ s eyes light up and he sighed. “Kenshin!” She smiled. “Join us!” “Kaoru-dono, are you paying for Sano’s lunch again?” Kenshin’s face showed worry. “Actually no. Sano is paying for this lunch.” “Oro?” Kenshin looked across the table confused. “Don’t Oro me Kenshin.” Sanosuke laughed “I’m having a lucky streak, saw Jou-chan, thought ‘Hey I owe her a few dinner’s. Lunch next best thing’. So I guess I owe you some dinners too?” He laughed again though this time he shook from laughter. “Iie Sano. I can pay for my self de gozaru yo.” He smiled. “You will do NO such thing Kenshin!” She looked at him, hands on her hips. Sano WILL pay for you! He owes you more dinners than he owes me!” “She’s right Kenshin,” “Alright. You win.” He sighed and looked at Kaoru, who was back to inspecting her tea. Sanosuke felt a ping when he realized that he had no chance with either of them. They were in love with each other. He now made a vow. He would get them together. He wanted to see them both happy, and this was the way he would make them happy. They would be together. “You two enjoy your self.” He threw a large amount of money on the table. “I have an important thing I forgot about.” He smiled down at the two of them. “Order whatever you want. There is enough there for you two to go out later. Kaoru, buy your self something nice. I’ll see you guys later.” He smiled awkwardly and turned to leave. “Oh, but I have one question. Why is your hair down?” “Oro! Well, someone stole my hair band!” He frowned and combed his hair back with his finger. “Alright. Buy yourself a new one... Ja!” Kaoru walked quickly in front of Kenshin. She was intent on spending the money Sano had given her, she felt he owed her that. She could feel Kenshin closing in from behind. His slow, careful steps. “Kaoru-dono! Please slow down.” He smiled as he spoke. “Why Do you call me that?” She said when she stopped. “Because it’s your name.” He stood next to her. “You can just call me Kaoru.” She looked at him softly. “But-” “But nothing.” She smiled at him “You’ve been staying with me for a while now... There is no need to be so formal...” She blushed deeply. “I guess...” He mumbled. “Kaoru-do-” He smiled “Kaoru. Don’t you think we need a new katana holder?” “I thought you fixed the last one?” “Well, I did, but I don’t know how much longer it will hold.” “hmmm... I think we should buy frivolous things with it.” She smiled at him. Like buy you a new hair tie!” she stuck her toung out at him. “Oro?” As they arrived back at the dojo, arms filled with things for the dojo. A new ribbon for Kaoru, one to match the kimono Kenshin had made for her. Kenshin, suprisingly, never did find a hair band. He almost bought a ribbon, but Kaoru told him no. He of corse listened. Kaoru had found a small necklace that for some reason reminded her of her meeting with Kenshin. It was silver, and had a small opal in a charm. It was very simple. Now she had the whole outfit. As they entered the kitchen the smell of frying oil pierced the air. “Oro?” “Kenshin?” “Oi, Jo-chan, Kenshin.” Sano appeared from behind a counter. He was wearing an apron, and had a pair of cooking chopsticks in his hands. “Hungry?” His handsome smile made Kaoru blush. “Sano, what are you doing? Kaoru lifted an eye brow. “I’m making dinner. What does it look like I’m do’n!” “But-” “Why would you make us dinner?” Kenshin looked confused. “Well why not?” “Ummm... Well, it’s just- You’ve never done it before.” Kaoru seemed to be more confused than Kenshin. “Well, I used to cook when I was younger. I haven’t cooked in a while, but it’s better than your cooking Jo-chan!” Sano laughed hysterically. “Shut Up!” Her face distorted evilly. “Sano, this is good!” Kenshin blurted out. “Let me try that!” Kaoru hastily ran over to the plate of tempura and tried one of the tiny pieces of shrimp. Her face twisted. “It’s GOOOOOOOOOOD!” “It’s not that good.” Sano humbly spoke. “Sano! This is wonderful!” Kaoru yelled at him. “Kaoru-dono is right Sano. This is wonderful food.” “You really think so?” “YES!” The two blurted in Unison. Kaoru sat quietly on the dojo steps. The moon wasn’t out, and the stars shone brightly. She heard foot steps behind her. “Good night everyone!” Kenshin walked off to his room silently. The usually silly smile on his face. “Good night Kenshin.” Kaoru smiled back at him. “Good night Kenshin.” Sano sat next to Kaoru. A little to close Kaoru thought. She decided to dismiss it this time. After all, he was acting a little odd. "Kaoru," he looked at her, his eyes sparkling. "What?" She looked at him confused. His face came unusually close to hers. Her eyes widened and her heart beat fast. Now what is he doing? "Kaoru..." He face came an inch closer, his eyes shutting. Kaoru jumped back quickly. "N-Nani!?" "Go out with me tomorrow." He smiled at her delicately. "Go have dinner with me." "No..." She took off toward her room. She felt herself stop and his arm wrap around her waist. "You can have anything you want." his whisper landed gently against her ear. She blushed deeply. "Please." She broke away from him. "Alright. But only on one condition." He nodded. "You get back to your normal self!" He nodded. "Alright." He bowed to her. "Good night Kaoru-san" Before he turned to leave he looked into the window where Kenshin resided. Sano smiled when he saw the eyes of Battousai glare back at him. ******************************************* Akihikio Aim: Akihikio, T Hinako ICQ: 30525543 --------------------------- ONElist Sponsor ---------------------------- Transfer your big list to ONElist and earn $500!
