        Sanosuke ran quickly after Megumi, hoping the loving couple would not see
him. He felt bad. Megumi meant the most to him out of any one, even those
who took care of him. <I didn't mean it...>

        Megumi ran surprisingly fast, and he could hardly keep up with her. Images
ran through his mind of when they met, when she had made the opium, when she
wanted to die. How did she feel now? <How could I have hurt her? I didn't
mean to.>

        <How could he!?> Her head was spinning in circles. And she had thought she
could have loved him. That was all in her head though. She had feelings for
Kenshin, but than again sometimes she only liked messing with him because
she knew it made Kaoru mad. She didn't have feelings for Kenshin, other than
friendship anyway... and than she realized <It's not just Kaoru she made
mad...> she stopped, and she could hear his foot steps close behind <I made
Sano jealous too...> She turned swiftly facing him, and he came to a quick
halt.

        "Gomen Fox Lady," he paused looking at his feet as his fingers twiddled, he
was looking for words. "I didn't mean it. I really didn't."

        He still called her Fox Lady. She turned and walked away, slowly the tears
began to flow again. Suddenly she felt grounded, a weight on her wrist. He
was holding her back. He was keeping her from leaving. She wouldn't turn
around, she refused. She wouldn't look at him so that he could hurt her
again. Bruise her spirit.

        He turned her around swiftly and held her close to him, it wasn't long
before she realized exactly where she was. He was warm, and holding her-
tight. She didn't know what to do.

        "Megumi-san," he whispered into her ear. "I didn't mean it I swear."

        She just stared off behind him as he held her, continuing to whisper
apologies to her. She finally reached around him, holding him back. She
began to cry into his chest muffling the sound.
