And I didn't make them, so don't sue me! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 'Til Twilight (1/2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "If stars had wings, the things My love would they tell. If stars had wings my love. Perhaps they would save me from heartache? Ah the heartaches they would relieve. If my secret wish you could receive... Could wings tell of your charms? Could wings praise of your graceful arms? praise of your dark hair. praise of your care? my heart will burst..." :::Knock knock::: Careful eyes dragged laggardly from the crisp white of paper, to the dramatic dark of sliding doors. Doors too thin to shut out the world for a decent span of time... if only he had time. Staring rather blankly at the paper doors closed in vain, alas he sank his head abruptly. His posture now following the downward slope. "Aoshi-sama?" His eyes snapped open, sparkling avidly with flints of surprise. "Oh shit!" He dropped his pen and fumbled with the thin array of ink-stained leaves. Thin leaves that gravity and soft breezes from a slightly open window blew laughingly. He struggled silently as the door slowly slid. He shoved the newly captured papers into his hakama before assuming the standard position for meditation... His heart pounded erratically against his chest, as familiar footsteps approached. Misao noted his heavy breathing as she scaled the distance between them. A distance frighteningly familiar to their relationship of late... She held her breath in high hopes that he would open his eyes... in more ways than one. She set the tray down and faced him... He was so beautiful. The way his dark hair fell slightly in his face... his handsome face. His features seemed to be hand-crafted and carved into a wonderful relief. Her face flushed as his thick eyelashes fluttered open. Her eyes found refuge in the leek-green cups she brought. Like him they were empty, waiting patiently for her aid... "Misao." Even his voice was beautiful. Deep bass with a silky calmness. She raised her head to his before averting her attention to the tea. She mustered up enough coordination to pour his cup then her own... They sipped silent yet sloppy slurps. The singing sound was luminous. She intended to speak... she hadn't come for the sake of pouring tea, but the quiet was so intimidating. She finally spoke... "Aoshi-sama?" "Nani?" He lifted his gaze to her face, her beautiful face. How he so longed to touch her face... even staring was bitter rapture. Gnawing felicity masked by an icy stare. His heart ached, swelling in greater pain as her thin eyebrows knitted. He moved to lean towards her as papers filled with love for her scratched and shifted against his skin. Her lips cracked open... "Honostly..." "What?" he inquired calmly. "About our marriage..." To Be Continued... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------- NOTES: 1. The poem Aoshi was writing about Misao... I wrote it... *ack* I am so ashamed! 2.
