From: Herald-Captain Kerowyn Crucify My Love by: K. C. "Kaoru-Sensei" Hulsman DISCLAIMER: Crucify My Love is a song by X-Japan. Rurouni Kenshin is the work of Watsuki-sensei and Sony. ------------------------------------------------ Misao makes her way quietly up the moon-silvered and flowing molten stone steps towards the temple shrine. She pauses in the archway frozen in a moment of breathlessness, a moment of uncertainty. Her eyes nervously scan the twilight and shadow shrouded room, until the piercing oceans of her eyes falls upon the back of the one she has been searching for in a great tidal wave of undertows that wrench upon her heart. Crucify my love If my love is blind Misao closes her eyes, as her emotions envelop around her heart in palpable taut strands, drowning her. Her eyes flying open as they break the surface of the tumultuous sea of emotions within her, her orbs gaze resolutely towards the person kneeling on the polished temple floors, a soft reflection of the hard man haunting the corners of her eyes. A slow steady draught of air steals her nerves, and she steps forward. Crucify my love If it sets me free She pads silently into the room, dancing on eggshells around him as she approaches. Until, with a quivering hand, she reaches out to caress his shoulder. He flinches at the contact, growing stiller than before and without moving listens to the tumble of words escaping her heart from the storm raging within her. Never know, Never trust "That love should see a color" Aoshi sighs, the air frosting about in the chilled air. He stands up, moving woodenly, and turns around to face her. He looks sincerely into her eyes and shakes his head sadly. The only words Misao hears as she stares in disbelief at his lips, are words that tear her heart into strips of isolated longing. The world so vivid before in blues and silver has suddenly disolved into a state of voidful black. Crucify my love If it should be that way Her head bows under his gaze. Dejected, defeated, and sadly accepting, she apologizes for disturbing his meditations, turns away and slowly, blindly, walks away. Swing the heartache Feel it inside out Misao walks down the burning, sharp, rough-hewn stone steps. Each step is racked in pure pain. Her mind focus on the swing of her legs, the sway of her walk, as it matches the sway of her tears falling from her cheek to the path below. The soft drops of water veiled by the rustling, mocking leaves. When the wind cries I1ll say goodbye The wind tugs at Misao1s braid, pulling it free. It wisps out in silken living strands around her. The silk turns venomous and begins to bristle, smack, and sting as it dances to the tunes of the howling wind. Tried to learn, Tried to find Tried to reach out for eternity Misao looks up towards the clouds overhead, staring up in rage at the sky. Hearing only silence, besides the wind that howls around her like a messenger from her own heart, her head turns downcast again, as shocked tears fall upon her shaking hand, the hand that had caressed his shoulder. Where1s the answer Is this forever In pain she falls heavily to her knees, not noticing the sharp bite of a rock as it cuts jaggedly into her. Her eyes close in not pain of the body, but agony of the heart. She sees Aoshi1s lips moving and the discording notes of the words "I1m sorryS." emanating from his lips. The knowledge of the vanquished love, wraps around her chillingly, as her breaths raggedly puff in frosty clouds in the black moonlight. Her arms wrap around herself as the future she envisioned crumbles into dust. Like a river flowing to the sea You1ll be miles away Misao slowly opens her eyes, and glances over her shoulder through the trees to where she can feel the temple is. She shook her head, angry at herself. And I will know, I know I can deal with the pain No reason to cry "I fooled myselfS cheer up girl! Can1t have the others worrying about you!" She speaks to no one in particular as she scrubs furiously at her tears. Crucify my love If my love is blind Crucify my love If it sets me free She sighs in resignation as she slowly gets on her feet. She takes a few calming breaths and chastises herself about wanting to know, and at least now she does. Never know, Never trust "That love should see a color," Crucify my love If it should be that way She sighs sadly as she begins to walk thinking of all the things she1ll never know with him. What it1s like to feel his lips against hers, his arms cradling her. There1s nothing I can do, it does no good wishing for a thing when you know it1s impossible girlS she thinks bitterly to herself, as she walks back home towards the Aoiya. Till the loneliness shadows the sky I1ll be sailing down Misao drifts through the forest towards home a phantasm of darkened silver, fleeting and gone a part of her leaving her in a wisp of curling grey, to forever roam and look for the love it can enver have. She sinks into some mire she cannot name. Her eyes grow distant as she drifts away. And I will know I know I can clear clouds away Misao skips with wilted eyes towards the aching halls of the Aoiya. Oh is it a crime to love The grey curl of her, materializes in a floating ball of frozen fire, eyes watching her corporeal form skip away in delirium. Swing the heartache Feel it inside out Misao with opaque eyes stares out into the fathomless sky beyond her, swaying from side to side, her eyes closed, and with a smile steps forth. When the wind cries I1ll say goodbye Misao turns around smiling back at the temple as she falls, the wind rushing past her in a howl, until she is swallowed by the earth below. Tried to learn, Tried to find Tried to reach out for eternity Ethereal, floating in the tears of sadness she wafts gently over to the broken doll on the ground. Her hand reaches down to pull the other half of her soul to her. Where1s the answer Is this forever The two Misao1s look at one another, and with a compulsion they cannot fight move on. If my love is blind Aoshi, stares at the marker of her grave, tears blurring his vision. Crucify my love If it sets me free Never know, Never trust The two Misao1s appear before him, silhouetted by the silvery moonlight. Aoshi reaches out blindly towards them, wanting to know if they1re real, not trusting his own eyes. "That love should see a color" The world turns black as he reaches out and touches them, his eyes swirl, and then after the brief haunting touch, his hand falls away cold through air. Crucify my love If it should be that way. He falls to his knees sobbing, and the two Misao1s lay their hands on his shoulders, whisper to him "do not blame yourself, find loveS be happy." They each caressed a cheek, laid parting farewell kisses upon his forehead, and merged together into one blinding light, that faded into the moon. ---------------------------------------------- I blame this fic on my favorite son of all time Crucify my Love which I happened to be lsitening to upon reading lots of Tin's fics, so Tin this is all your fault :P This is very unlike me, it's a very dark fic, a very darg song fic at that as well....
