But isn't that have the fun? * Rei sat at the end of the porch, watching Omasu and Okon sweep the debris off the porch and restack the chairs that had been tossed around during the panic. It had been an hour since the attack and still the crowd that formed in front of the Aoiya carried looks of curiosity and shock on their faces. They stared intently at Rei and mumbling to each other. "Ano.......I don't mean to sound rude or anything.....but is there a way to get them to stop staring at me?" Rei asks Omasu. "This is Kyoto. Everyone here has inquisitive minds. Besides, a girl throwing seals of protection at rabid dogs really isn't a regular occurance here." Omasu explains, struggling to keep the glass on the porch from cutting her. "Of course stranger things have happened." Okon puts in. "True" Omasu says, nodding. "Like what?" Rei asks curiously. "Well, there was the fight we had with the juppon gatana." Omasu recalls. "Hai. That was a tough battle. I didn't think that we were going to make it. Thank god for Hiko-sama." Okon says. A sweatdrop appears behind Rei's head as she watches Omasu and Okon swoon back and forth chanting Hiko-sama......Hiko-sama. "ano....ok." "Gomen nasai Rei-chan. We do tend to get carried away," Omasu says with a blush. "Hai. It's just the adrenaline rush of a battle well won. You probably wouldn't understand." Okon adds. I wouldn't understand? That's a laugh. I have probably been in more battles than they could count. "You're probably right." Rei says with a forced smile. "So tell us something about yourself." Omasu says, sitting next to her. Rei's eyes bug out, "What would you like to know?" "Where are you from? What brings you to Kyoto? Do you have any relatives in Kyoto?" "Okay. I am from Tokyo, only not the Tokyo you are familiar with. I am not sure why I was brought here and no relatives in Kyoto that I am aware of. At least, the ones I am familar with aren't even born yet." Rei explains. Omasu and Okon exchange looks. "Can you run that buy us again?" Omasu asks. They both look bewildered by Rei's statement. Rei sighs and nodds. "Alright, it's like this......." -Ten Minutes later- "So what you are telling us is that you are from the future?" Okon asks her. "Hai. From 1999, Tokyo." Rei says matter of factly. "Assume for a minute that we believe you, why would you be sent to the past? Is something going to happen?" Omasu asks. Rei shrugs, "Like I said, I haven't a clue why I am here." "Is this a normal occurance for your time?" Okon asks. "Not for regular people....." Rei answers, "but for people like me, it is perfectly normal." "People like you?" Omasu asks, looking the girl over for differences. "Hai. Oh boy...this is getting difficult. I have a guardian. Her name is Sera Mars. She is my protecting diety and the embodiment of fire." "Your what?" Okon and Omasu asks in unision. "Okay....I have special abilities." "Hai. Like you showed with the dogs. You are a priestess, ne?" "You could says that. But it is much deeper than religion. I was born on a planet called Mars a very long time ago...." "But I thought you said you were from the future?" Okon questions. "I am. But my diety isn't." Rei explains. "Huh?" "What I am trying to say is.......I was born a very long time ago as Princess Mars. I served under Queen Serenity of the Moon Kingdom and was a part of Princess Serenity's court. We went to war with dark forces and were defeated. After our deaths, our beloved queen sacrificed her self and sent us to earth to be reborn as regular humans. But she sent with us two guardian cats who had retained most of their memories of the Moon Kingdom and Silver Mellenium. They also held with them henshin sticks that allow us to return to our previous forms. So I am known as Sera Mars, the Princess of Mars born with the ability to control fire." Rei states. Okon shakes her head and Omasu places her hand on her chin. After a few moments, she pats Rei on the back. "You had some sake with dinner afterall, ne?" She says knowingly. 'Iie. I don't drink. I am only 16. There are drinking laws where I come from and besides, that stuff will kill you," Rei says defensively. "Sure Sure." Omasu says, resuming her sweeping. "You know I really can't believe how much damage those dogs did to the Aoiya." "Hai. But we should be used to it by now, ne?" Okon asks, pulling the last chair onto the stack. Rei watched the two in silence. It had occured to her that these two might not believe her. But brushing off her explanation was not the desired nor expected response she had anticipated. Shock, Fear, and Denial were the reactions most common to those she revealed her true form to. But ignoring her confession was inconceivable. *I have got to find a way to get home. They probably think I'm insane!* Rei wonders what to do now. She felt like a freak in a circus. "Ano....can I help at all? Rei asks, trying to break the barrier of ice between them. "You don't have to." Okon says, picking at the window frame where the glass had shattered. "Onegai. I feel like this is partly my fault." Rei pleads. "If you feel that strongly about it....here" Okon says, passing her broom. "We need to get all of this glass up before tomorrow. Shiro and Kiro have gone to get a new pane for this window, so we have to try and get all of the glass out of this one without adding more to the ground." She instructs. Rei nodds and sweets the glass up that inevitably falls from Okon's tug. *I wonder what they really think about what I have told them. I wish Usagi and the others were here. I reallt miss everyone* "Is that all?" Rei asks, sweeping up the last bits of glass from her side of the porch. "Looks like it." Omasu says, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "Arigato for the hand Rei-chan, With your help we were able to finish before they returned. Now all that is left to do are the dishes from earlier." "I'll help. I am pretty good with loading dishes" Rei brags. "Loading dishes? Ano.....loading them where?" Okon asks confused. "In the dishwasher of course, where else?" Rei replies matter of factly. "What is a dishwasher?" Omasu asks with her monotonous bewildered look. "A machine that washes dishes for you loads at a time." Rei says. "Sugoi. Where can we get one?" Omasu cries out in excitement. "With a machine like that, are work would be cut in half by hours." Okon added with the same excited tone. *Uh oh. Me and my big mouth* "Gomen nasai. I keep forgetting that I am not home. You would only see a dishwasher where I am from." Rei says apologetically. Okon and Omasu frown and turn away from her. Rei notices their change in attitude and worries that she may have made them angry at her. "Omasu-san? Okon-san?" "Nani?" They answer simultaneously. "Are you mad at me?" Rei asks nervously. "Iie. We just think that you are such a sweet girl and that it is a real shame." Okon answers warmly. "What is a shame?" Rei question. This time she was the one who was confused. "We feel that it is a shame that such a sweet girl can turn into such a fibD Rei watched the two in silence. Shiro and Kiro have gone to get a new pane for this window, so we have to try and get all of the glass out of this one without addino, allow me to point something out to you. You are a beautiful young lady who should be out enjoying the gentler and quiter things in life." Jiya lectures. "Iie Iie.....you see what I mean? You don't understand me at all!" Misao sighs, "The first point that I would like to make is that in no way am I ever quiet! And the second point is that I am in no way gentle! I am the okashira. Gentle is not in my vocabulary." Misao states. "Aoshi..." "Aoshi-sama?!? Where Where?!?" Misao asks, scanning the room quickly. Jiya laughs at her urgency, "Being okashira is fine for now. But I can see the true path you wish to follow." Misao blushes, "Jiya, you can be so weird sometimes." "I know. Now sit still while I finish bandaging your arm", He orders. Misao gives him the 'who is the leader of this ship' look. "If you don't mind, Okashira?"Jiya adds. Misao smiles. -Later that evening- "Are you sure that this is alright?" Rei asks Omasu. "Of course. Misao-chan won't mind. "Are you certain? I mean I wouldn't want to impose." "It's fine. Misao-chan is a very considerate and pleasant tempered girl. You should get along great." Okoa says reassuringly. "Misao-chan is what?" Omasu starts but Okon places a had on her mouth a drags her out calling Oyasuminasai over her shoulder. Rei sighs. *I have a bad feeling about this* She changes into the nightgown Omasu lent her and settled down in the futon. She stretched out her arms and yawned. "I guess I am tired." She says, staring up at the ceiling. "Onegai......onegai let me wake up tomorrow and be back with minna." She whispers before dozing off to sleep. -A little while later- Misao drags her tired body, slowly through the Aoiya. Her only desire tonight was to drown herself in the comfort of her bed. As much as she hated to admit it, Jiya was right. She was overdoing herself and should enjoy the quieter things in life. *What the hell am I thinking? I really need sleep!* Misao thinks, coming up on her room. "A good night sleep is what I need." Misao changes her clothes quickly and and tosses them aside. She slides the door open slightly and peeks out. As she suspected, he was still meditating. He had been there since Omasu had bandaged him up earlier. He would probably be there for the remainder of the night. *Does he sleep?* Misao frowns. *He is going to burn himself out if he keeps this up* She starts an internal debate on whether or not to go up there and tell him how worried she is about him. Within moments, Misao realized that she should leave him be. *He wouldn't listen to me anyway* She decides with frustration. *When will Aoshi-sama realize my feelings for him?" "For that he would have to recognize my existence." She whispers sadly. *....Demo....he did rush to protect me when the dogs attacked* She recalls with a pinch of hope.* She smiles, *Maybe there is still hope for me* "Oyasuminasai Aoshi-sama" Misao slides the door shut and walks over to her bed. She is shocked to feel something already lying there. "Oro?................." She pokes at it and jumps when an arm rolls out of the blanket. Misao screams. Rei jumps up, ready to fight. "NANI NANI?" "WHO IN THE HELL ARE YOU?!? Misao yells out. She holds her kunai, ready to throw. "Watashi Hino, Rei. Hajimemashite." Rei says tensely. *Pleasant tempered? And I'm Usagi!* Rei thinks sarcastically. Omasu and Okon really got her good. This girl had small knives aimed at her. *I wonder if my Akryou Taisen would work on her?* "Okay, now I know your name. But that doesn't explain why I walk into my room and find some middle aged woman sleeping in my bed?" Misao gripes. "I can explain......matte.....did you say middle age?" Rei barks. "Hai. I don't want some over the hill madame dirtying up my bed!" Misao says harshly. "Why you little brat. I am trying to explain to you why I am in here! If you would just shut up for a min......." "B-R-A-T?!?!?! Misao cries out in disbelief, "You are just jealous of my beauty and you!" "What beauty? And why should I be jealous of your youth? I was under the impression that we were the same age!" Rei snaps. "Nani? How old are you?" Misao demands. "Sixteen" Rei answers. "No you aren't!" Misao says, disbelieving. "Yes I am" "Uh Uh" "Uh huh" "You're lying." Misao says. "No I'm not. And I am not going to argue with you!" Rei says matter of factly. Misao shakes her head in denial and starts to circle Rei. She sizes her up for a long time before reaching out and, to Rei's dismay, grabbing her breasts. "ECCCCCCCCCCCCCHI!" Rei cries out, slapping Misao's hands away. She was just about to beat the stuffing out of her, when she noticed tears in Misao's eyes. "What is it? What's wrong?!?" Rei asks, concerned. 'It just isn't fair!" Misao whines. "Gomen nasai. I didn't think you would mind if I slept here. Omasu-san and Okon-san said....." "Forget what they said! This is horrible!" Misao says. Her face was pale and she looked as if she had been told something tragic and devistating. "Gomen nasai......Honto ne gome nasai." Rei repeats sincerely. "You should be. Here I am working out and drinking lots of milk. And than you come along with them." Misao says bitterly. "Eh?" Rei blinks. *What the hell is she talking about?* "Don't play dumb with me? You know exactly what I mean!" Misao says angrily. "No I don't!" Rei admits. "Breasts. You have breasts. I bet you are plotting to take away my Aoshi-sama with those.....but it won't work! He may not talk to me alot but I know he cares deep down. And he will not be swayed by some girl with large breasts!" *Oh yea....she's gone!" Rei thinks to herself as she folds her arms across her chest. Looking at Misao's angry, pale face reminded her of someone. *Usagi. She acts alot like you. I don't know if I should be comforted by that or not. She really is kawaii in her own way. I think she may be the reason I was sent here. Maybe I am suppose to play the role of matchmaker for her and Aoshi-san.* "Yoshi. You can depend on me, Misao-chan!" Rei announces. "So you admit it, ne? Misao blurts out. "Admit what?" Rei asks cod woman sleeping in my bed?" Misao gripes. Misao shakes her head in denial anhrowing open the door and charging Rei. Rei leaps into the air and jumps over Misao's head. She lands in the door entrance and slides it shut. She hatches the lock and returns to her previous position on the futon. She closes her eyes and puts herself in a deep, meditative sleep. Outside she could barely notice the sounds of Misao kicking the door and screaming porfanities at her. She smiles. Misao had qualities of all of her friends. Minako's vanity, Usagi's jealousy (except for Aoshi-sama instead of Mamo-chan), Makoto's strength, Haruka's cunning, Michiru's passion and her temper. *She would have been a great senshi.* BANG BANG BANG "LET ME IN! YOU.....BITCH.....I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS.......OPEN UP!" Rei cringes. *I take it back. The senshi have nothing on this one.* TBC --------------------------- ONElist Sponsor ---------------------------- ONElist: your connection to online communities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
