This is a REAL short chapter so the boredom won't last so long.. ^_^ Again, please tell me where I'm screwing up so I can correct along with Taezs corrections. Yahiko, Sanosuke, Megumi- For a Better Tomorrow "Sanosuke!! SANOSUKE!!" Sanosuke felt his cheeks being stretched out by small chubby fingers. he opened his eyes and growled. "Leave me alone ya piece o....." He stopped when he saw the expression on the young boy's face. Big fat tears rolled down Yahiko cheeks as he allowed himself to look frightened, which must of been pretty hectic for a samurai boy. Especially Yahiko. Sanosuke immediately sat up. "What's going on?" "Kaoru....." Sanosuke's expression grew dim. Fuck, something was wrong. "What about Kaoru?" Megumi had woken up and was brushing Yahiko's tears away with a handkerchief. He whimpered out a response. "....she left for the docks at midnight yesterday. ..she knocked me out....some fishermen we met told her to go.... if she wanted to know more about the Kurokagei..she had to be alone." It was hard to decipher what Yahiko was saying since he was sobbing and his sentences didn't make much sense. But Sanosuke had it all pieced together seconds later. His expression turned from thoughtful to angry. "So Jo-chan lied to us!! I knew there was something wrong with her!" Yahiko blew his nose on the now soaking hanky. "..The fisherman said....if she dies..it wouldn't be his fault.." Megumi and Sanosuke looked at each other and nodded. Sanosuke held Yahiko up with one hand and held Megumi's hand in the other. Together they left the hotel room and pounded down the stairs and out the door. Sanosuke's eyes narrowed. Sure enough, there was a commotion on the docks. Hushed whispers were heard among the crowds of elderly people. Most of the women were crying. "The wrath of Kurokagei is upon us." "What are we to do??" "Our folly has caused a death." "How many more people will die??" "Oh Lord..please.....I don't want to die yet." Sanosuke paid no heed to the Kurakagei wrath shit and cut straight through the crowd. Jo-chan, I will personally go straight to the grave and whup your ass if you're dead. Deep inside, Sanosuke was scared. Finally they made it to the scene of the crime. There was a straw mat covering a figure behind the bushes, dark blood staining the surrounding grass. Sanosuke put Yahiko down and let go of Megumi's hand. Then he took a deep breath and put a hand on the mat. Much to the crowd's horror as well as Megumi and Yahiko's, he flung the straw mat off. The gaping expression of an elderly fisherman looked up at him from a fly invested face. Sanosuke sighed in relief and pulled the mat over the stenchy corspe. He turned to a pale faced Megumi and grinned. "That wasn't too bad now was it?" They stared at each other for a minute before Megumi smiled "Hey!! That's the fisherman that told Kaoru to come to the dock!!" They both turned to see Yahiko squatting before the dead body, lifting the mat with a branch. "Wait, if he's dead...where's Kaoru??" Sanosuke grimaced. The worst part was yet to come. He turned to the crowd. "Alright!! I know that y'all are scared shitless right now, but I NEED to know where these Kurokagei Ninjas came from! And I KNOW that you're all are hiding something so SPIT IT OUT!" The crowd went silent. They all looked at Sanosuke with horrified expressions. "Are you trying to kill us all??" "That youth has gone mad." "SHUT UP!!" Sanosuke growled. The crowd hushed promptly. "Lemme repeat my self!! I NEED to know where these Ninjas CAME FROM so I can save a very close Jo-chan of mine and you ARE GOING TO TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW!!!" Silence. Then one man stepped out of the crowd. His cane tapping lightly on the cement. "Young'un, you are a very brave man. But I believe your friend is dead. No one escapes the Kurokagei alive." he smiled, a tight mass of wrinkles. "But I know how stubborn you youths can become so I will tell you where you can find the Kurokagei." The crowd immediately exploded in angry whispers. "Our Mayor is trying to murder us all." "What are we elderly suppose to do when they attack?" "Doomed. I tell ya..doomed." The elder man raised his cane and turned to his fellow villagers. "I've had enough of this display of cowardly behaviour. If these youn'uns go to the Kurokagei, I will bless them. For they may be the key to the freedom of our village. If they fail, we will be ready to take the Kurokagei on ourselves." There was a brief silence before one elderly women stepped out, her face red with fury. "The Mayor is right! I've had it up to here with those blasted Kurokagei!!" Another man stepped out. "Here, Here!!" Soon the crowd had been washed over by their own hope for a better future. Their chants echoed strong and brave. The Mayor turned back to Sanosuke, his expression solemn. "Listen closely young'un. There is a lot of islands out there in the sea. Go straight past the first two islands and head west. You will see an island with a cliff curved like an eagles beak. That's the island you want. The trip will take you approximately a day." Then his expression became warm and merry. "You must start the journey tomorrow for we need time to prepare your boat. Today we will all feast for a better tomorrow." Sanosuke grinned. "Thanks, elder." The crowd broke away with cheers. Sanosuke, Megumi and Yahiko were hushed away to a restaurant. Tomorrow, it would be out to Sea. Critism please!! "Cognito erguem. I think therefore, I am."
