Up to part seven...finally some romance! Very brief but oh well ^_^ Tell me if it getz too sappy for ya. I need to know where my mistakez are! Kaoru, Battousai- On Kurokagei Island "He..'s not here.." This was worse than being flattened by a ton of bricks. Shinji shook his head. "I'm sorry...he seems to be out. But I'm sure he will return soon." He smiled. "Meanwhile you should stay here and rest. I won't be here till tomorrow afternoon, I have some business to attend to. My servants will give you your breakfast." Kaoru nodded wearily. All the energy she had worked up was dissolving fast. Shinji turned to go out the door and stopped. "My name is Shinji, what's yours?" Kaoru would've slapped herself on the forehead if she had the energy. How could she forget to introduce herself. "Kaoru. Kamiya, Kaoru." "Kaoru-san, very pretty name." he stood in the doorway and looked at her with pronoun jade jewels. He began sliding the door shut but before it shut totally he said one more thing. "Kaoru-san, please don't wander out of this cave. There's wild beasts surrounding the forest, I don't want you to get hurt." Kaoru remembered the dark forest and the spooky animal noises and laughed. "You won't have to worry about me wandering off." He smiled. "Goodnight Kaoru-san." The door creaked shut. "Hmph." Kaoru fell back on the soft cushions. It must have been morning. She wished she could find out what time it was. She rolled to the side and fell asleep seconds later. Battousai sat in the dark forest. A lonely fire casting long shadows across the barren ground. He could have sworn that the trees were whispering to each other, he must've been going mad. He lay down near the fire and looked up at the full yellow moon that loomed overhead. He was sent out in the forest for some sort of survival training, or that's what Shinji said. Two hours ago..... "Survival training? Five days in the forest?" Battousai stared at the man infront of him. Shinji nodded. "The Elders said it would strengthen your bones. And God knows that's what you need." Battousai narrowed his eyes. "I don't know what the fuck I did to piss you off, but you've been treating me like shit the past couple days." Shinji crossed his arms arrogantly. "You deserve it. Anyways, for your survival training you need to go to the way other side of the island near the dungeon. The only thing you can have on you is your sword. Remember, you can't set foot in this territory for five days." Shinji lowered his voice to a growl. "Got that Battousai, five days!" Battousai felt like smacking the man upside the head. "If the Elders say so, I have no choice." his voice showed no restrain of anger. Shinji laughed. "Save the voice for the Owls. Now go!!" Battousai gazed at the moon and the stars. Suddenly the ocean of stars rolled into crimson waves. Battousai sat up and held his head. What's going on with me? He looked at the sky again and found the mosaic of stars glittering down at him. Almost too glittery. He rolled to the side and decided to ignore the sky and go to sleep. Kaoru woke up on a bed that wasn't hers. Dazed and bewildered, she stumbled out of the covers and washed her face in a wash basin. The first thought that came across her mind was what time it was. Groggily, she stepped out the door and looked around. The long corridors was bathed in dreary torches. She couldn't figure out the time in a place like this! And then the events of yesterday smacked her like an icy blow. She was in Kurokagei territory. A man called Shinji had bought her straight in to enemy territory. She felt like she was the luckiest dame on Earth! Now all she had to do was snoop around and find out where Kenshin had disappeared to. She walked down the long corridors and up a flight stairway, she had come up what seemed like a dozen flight of stairs before stepping out into a wide cave. She was blinded by the sudden outburst of light. She stood there, her eyes adjusting to the fiery gleam before stepping across the cave to it's mouth. Outside the forest towered over her. They looked like angry giants with their long arms waving wildly in the air. Frightened, she stood there and watched. Shinji did warn her about beasts... as if on cue she heard a howl coming from the forest infront of her. Scared, she began running. To her horror she heard the soft plodding of paws behind her. She ran like never before. "Help!!!" The trees rustled, mocking her in her feeble attempt to escape. The paws were now closer and she could hear the wild breathing of wolves. There must have been three.. "Help, somebody!!" Battousai woke with a start. He could've sworn he had heard someone screaming. His suspensions were confirmed when he heard the shouts a second time. He had his sword unsheathed in a second and was dashing through the forest with lightning speed. He came across a clearing and stopped, his ears scanning the area for noise. He heard the voice scream a third time and sprinted west. Then he intersected her. The girl had tripped and was on the ground with a pack of white wolves behind her. Battousai acted quickly, he leapt at them with great agility. "Hiten Mitsu Ryuugi Ryu, Ku Zu Ryu Sen." He had to spread the targets over the three wolves but it had worked. Soon their bloody carcasses were all over the grass, some of it was on him. Distastefully he wiped the blood off his face and turned to face the young girl. The young girl stared up at him with wide blue eyes. That shade of blue.. The girl got up and literally jumped in to his arms. "Kenshin!!!" The force of the girl had knocked both of them to the ground. Battousai scrambled to get up but was halted by a sudden rain of tears on his face. The girl was crying. "Kenshin, Kenshin..you're ok!!!" Kenshin? He sat up, the girl trembling against his chest. He was royally confused now. "Do I know you." She stopped shaking. The girl's beautiful wet eyes addressed him from a small pale face. "Kenshin?" Battousai shook his head. "You have the wrong person. My name is Battousai." He watched the blood drain from her face. Did he say something wrong? For a minute they just sat there, starring at each other. Battousai felt like he had committed something a lot more serious than murder. He looked down at her with glowing yellow eyes. Time seemed to cease as he stared down at the girls delicate face. Features as soft as an angels. He pushed the thought away and got up, pulling the girl along with him. She seemed awfully quiet, even her breathing was near still. Her eyes were closed, her long lashes fluttering as a breeze brushed past them. Battousai just stood there. He was at a loss of words. Kaoru felt her heart pound against her ribcage. She should have seen it before, those yellow eyes were not the ones that belonged to Kenshin, but the ones that belonged to Hitokiri Battousai. She had come too late. Eyes still closed, she wept. It was all hopeless... No, it wasn't. It was Battousai all right but, he didn't kill her on the spot. It was still possible that the 'blood bind' hadn't taken full control yet. Yes, infact she was sure it hadn't taken him yet. She opened her eyes and smiled. "I'm sorry. You look like somebody I knew." Battousai nodded. "No harm done." Kaoru pulled herself away from his body and looked at him with adoring eyes. "My name is Kaoru." Those eyes, those sparkling sapphires. "Tell me, Kaoru, why are you out in the forest alone?" They began walking to the other side of the forest, Kaoru explained that she was lost and was trying to look for a way back when she was attacked by wolves. When Battousai asked back where, she merely shook her head and smiled. They reached 'camp' almost an hour later. They sat down and immediately Kaoru began a lively chatter. Battousai was baffled by the excitement that shone in her eyes as she proceeded telling him about all sorts of things from Summer mazilis (festivals) to a restaurant called Akabeko. She mentioned the man called Kenshin a lot and he could of sworn that she kept staring at him. It didn't matter though, he enjoyed her presence. Such a high spirited young girl. Strange, he felt he knew her. Kaoru noticed the haunted expression on his face and stopped. "What's a matter?" Maybe a girl like her would understand his emptiness. Battousai drew in a deep breath and began to speak, keeping his gaze on the ground. "I don't have any recollections of my past. The only thing I can remember is the things that happened these past two weeks. Otherwise I don't remember null. And now you showed up and it's like I've known you ... and....." It was words that came from the heart. "I think I love you." He wanted to shove the words back in his mouth as soon as they tumbled out. Now she was going to think he was some sort of weirdo/hentai person that was trying to take advantage of her. But someone he knew he couldn't go back on his words. Battousai had spoken the words of his heart and there was no return from that. Grimly he forced his head up, then his eyes, and braced himself for impact. There was no impact, just tears. She was crying. Shocked, Battousai watched her as she came to him and flung her slender arms around his neck. Her face was hidden in the folds of his shirt, but he could hear her soft, gentle whisper. "I love you too." Battousai had never felt happier in his life. He held her body close, as if letting go would kill him. And it felt like it truly would. Nothing could be more precious than the fragile girl that he held in his arms right now. Once her sobs stopped, he put a hand under her chin and pushed it up. His heart almost stopped when he saw her beautiful sapphire eyes looking up at him from her angelic face. "Your so beautiful." he breathed. He kissed her. The world could be burning in hell for all he cared. He had her and that's the only thing that mattered. He tasted her sweet lips, feeling it's silky softness. He didn't know how many minutes had past before he pulled away. She was blushing a light pink as she looked at him with her darling eyes. He smiled at her feeling a faint flush spread across his own cheeks. Kaoru tenderly kissed his cheek, her lips caressing the cross scar with petal like softness. He closed his eyes, savouring the feel of her gentle touch. 'Your only going to kill her later on.' Battousai's eyes snapped open. He pushed the girl away and put a hand to his face, feeling a deep throbbing ache explode in his temples. His vision was thwarted by a sudden red haze. "What's wrong?!!" "Your face is going pale!! Are you ok?!" Her shouts were drowned out by the sick throb of his brains about to ooze out of his skull. His hands were at his katana against his will, preparing to slice up the goddess infront of him. 'Hack her up and rain her sweet blood all over the forest.' Mocking laughter. He had to get out of there fast. Battousai got up and quickly jumped on to a near by boulder. He collected all the leg power he could muster and sprang up into the branches of an Evergreen. Then he escaped through the high trees, branch by branch. Leaving a shower of leaves behind him. 'What's the use of running away? You're going to destroy her later anyways.' The pain in his head tripled. Battousai began shrieking like a mad man. Okey, any comments or critsm? TELL ME! ^_^ -Mihoshi "Cognito erguem. I think therefore, I am."
