Thanks for the feedback on Misao's Wish and Shattered Rainbows. I appreciated it muchly *is that a word* Anyways, here is Part 3 to my Megumi-Sano fic. I introduced a new character who totally sucks. He's so dumb and I hate him. I just stuffed him in the story to make Sano's *my love* life a bit more difficult. They new character is named Kiiro which means yellow. He's from england and his hair is blond and he is a whiny loser and he's a jerk. Feel free to write fic where bad stuff happens to him. Me and Tin-chan are going to, right? *hee hee* And the last bit of ramblings...keep in mind that when I wrote this I hadn't seen any of the Kenshin series and so I don't know much. And that's it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Disclaimer....we all know it. None of these great characters are mine and they never will be *sniff sniff* <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Part Three A Web of Shadows Sanosuke stood leaning against a wall, watching the sun set. The azure sky had erupted into brilliant hues of red and green and blue. Everything was so vivid, so beautiful. It seemed as though all of creation was peaceful and content. All except him. When would the raging storm within himself quiet? “Damn you, Kenshin,” he muttered. “And damn her.” Yes, it was all her fault. Her fault for being so bloody damn beautiful. Her fault for having such sad, soulful eyes. Her fault for making him want to hold her, to protect her. Her fault for...loving Kenshin. “The sunset is really pretty today isn’t it?” a happy, bubbly voice announced. Sano grunted as Misao came to stand beside him. “I just love watching the sunset,” she continued pleasantly. “It’s rather symbolic, don’t you think? The day ends but only for a few hours. And then, when the sun rises, tomorrow will be even brighter and more majestic then today. It’s all about hope. You have to have hope, Sano-san. Without it, what else do we have? If I didn’t have my dreams, my faith I could never be happy.” “Dreams can never compare to reality,” he replied cynically. “And hoping never amounts to anything. I of all people should know.” He turned and stalked away. Misao rushed after him, losing her temper. “Where the hell did you develop this stupid habit of walking away in the middle of a conversation?” she demanded, annoyed. “I’m trying to talk to you. Jeeze.” Sano whirled around, so quickly that she smashed into him and promptly fell to the floor. He glared down at her. “When I want a little, bratty Weasel girl like you around I’ll call. In the meantime, get lost.” She fumed as she stood up. That had not gone well. She had wanted to talk to him, to get him to open up about Megumi. Then she would have helped him form a plan to get her. But no, he had suddenly turned into a jaded cynic who was too angry to listen to anyone else. Just her luck. Frustrated, she Ke Cho Kicked a nearby wall as hard as she could and then uttered all the swear words that she knew. Swear words that Sano had taught her. “Such language.” Misao whirled around and looked straight into Aoshi’s dark blue eyes. She blushed deeply. Things were just getting better and better. “Um...would you look at the time,” she sputtered. “I really gotta go on the account of...um...I gotta go.” “He needs to be alone, Misao.” She frowned at that. “Do you spend all your time lurking around corners and spying on other people’s conversations?” “I wished to speak with you.” Misao feigned a coughed and made a face into her hand. She knew what he meant when he said that he wanted to ‘speak’ with her. Really he was going to chew her out. “What did I do this time?” she demanded. “Oh wait. I know exactly what you’re going to say. You’re going to tell me to mind my own business. What happens to Sano is none of my concern. Well I’m not about to listen to you, Aoshi-sama. He’s my friend and I want him to be happy. He and Megumi-san belong together and I, Makimachi Misao am going to make it happen. Now I have many things to and I’m leaving. AND don’t spy on me either,” she quickly added and then ran away before he could stop her and give her some stupid lecture. Aoshi shook his head. She could be so stubborn at times. Stubborn but very cute. He would catch her later. ************************************* It was a different kind of darkness. The kind that flowed like a viscous shroud, so thick and so real. It swirled and encompassed her until there was nothing left but darkness. Darkness and this soul wrenching pain. She was powerless to stop it. Before her very eyes, her silver life spilled out into the black. The night was taking her. Memories were snatched and lost. Icy tears slid down her cheeks. Images mingled twisted together so tightly, obliterating her essence. Nothing was everything and everything was nothing. Both were black and wanted to take her. Wasn’t there anyone who would help her, anyone who cared? The inky night scoffed at her. When had there ever been anyone for her? Who had cared about her? She had always been alone and would forever remain alone. Even now in the hour of her death. Alone in the obscurity, alone in the shadows. But would this final darkness be so bad? It would take her away and relieve her pain. So much pain. She couldn’t take this suffering any longer. There was no reason for her to stay. The windy insanity swallowed her. It was soft and frail like a glass web. The prospect of a new start sparkled in the dimness. It was possible. ************************************* Kiiro held his shoulder with his hand in the hopes of stopping the bleeding. He had beaten the hell out of those five ruffians who had tired to rob him, but he hadn’t expected that they would have those Japanese swords. He had thought that they were illegal. “Then again robbing people is illegal and that didn’t stop them,” he said to himself bitterly. Stupid country. He couldn’t wait until he was back home in peaceful England. Then people would address him by his real name and not “Kiiro” meaning yellow on account of his hair color. “Daijobu Kiiro-san?” a soft voice asked him. He looked over to see an attractive young lady dressed in a beautiful blue and green kimono looking at him with concern. “Is there a doctor’s office nearby?” he asked her. She nodded, looking worriedly at his bleeding shoulder. “Doctor Genzai is away but Megumi-san will be there. She will bind your injury.” “Would you be so kind as to show me the way, onegai shimasu.” She nodded again. “It is this way.” He followed the small girl through the narrow streets. Finally she pointed to a small building. “That is the clinic. Megumi-san will look after your wound.” He smiled at the girl. “Yes, thank you. Arigato.” She blushed and bowed. “Do itashimashite.” He walked towards the clinic, surprised that it was so dark. But the door was open and so he entered the dark building. “Hello?” he called out. “Is anyone here?” He found a candle and lit the hallway lights, cursing at the pain in his shoulder the simple action caused him. “What kind of clinic was this anyways?” he thought irritably as he began to look in all the rooms in search of some kind of life. “How can there be nobody here when all sorts of idiots are walking around with those blasted swords? This clinic should be full. Those damn swords are lethal.” At last he came to a room in the back marked ‘Examination Room’. He pushed open the door and was stunned to see a dark figure lying upon the floor. Quickly, he lit the lights and knelt beside the figure. It was a woman whose face was covered by her long, jet black hair. He picked up her white, slender wrist and felt for a pulse. He was relieved to hear the slow but steady thump of her heart beat. Gently, he brushed her hair out of her face and gazed down at her. She was quite easily the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on, in England or Japan. Even though her face was unnaturally pale and there were dark bags under her eyes, there was no mistaking the delicate bones of her face and the sweetness of her heart shape mouth. Her eyelashes were so long that they rested upon her high cheeks. Her hair felt like rippling silk in his hands. Without even thinking he reached out and tenderly touched her face. He jerked back. She was burning hot, in spite of the fact that she was as pale as the moonlight shining down upon her exquisite face. “Jesus Christ,” he murmured and picked her up into his arms. He couldn’t help but marvel at how light she was and how good she felt in his arms. He forgot all about his bleeding shoulder as he carried her to a bed in the next room. Laying her down with the utmost precision, he wrapped the blanket securely around her and went about lighting the lamps and closing the windows. “I won’t let you die,” he said softly as he fetched a bowl of water and a cloth. Dipping the cloth into the water, he carefully began to dab her flaming face. She moaned softly and began to stir. “It’s alright sweetheart,” he soothed as he brushed her hair away from her face. “Nothing more will happen to you. I’m here now,” he whispered and was unable to resist the urge to plant a kiss upon her fiery forehead. “GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF HER, YOU BLOODY PERVERT!!!!!!!!!” Kiiro looked up to see a young girl with a very long braid standing in the doorway. Her expression was fierce and her big eyes were flashing. He frowned at her, annoyed. “Shut up you fool. Do you want to wake her up?” Misao was pissed like hell. “You stupid foreign bastard!!! How dare you sit there, nearly raping a sleeping woman and then call me names!!! Makimachi Misao will not forgive you for laying a hand on her friend!!! Prepare to die, blondie!!!!!!!!!” He turned bright red. “R-r-raping her?” he sputtered. “I can assure you that I was doing no such thing!!! This woman is-” “You lying pervert!!!!!!!!!’ Misao hollered. “I saw you kissing her with my own two eyes!!! Don’t you dare try to deny it otherwise I’ll-” “What is going on here?” a quiet voice asked. They both looked to see who had joined the scene. It was Dr. Genzai. “I leave to visit some patients in Kamakura and when I coma back my clinic has been turned into an insane asylum. I-” “This man was trying to rape Megumi WHILE SHE’S SLEEPING!!!!!!!!!” Misao shrieked. “I won’t let anyone hurt Megumi-san, especially not this blond foreigner!” “I found this woman lying on the floor in the examination room,” Kiiro explained hurriedly, still red-faced. “She has a very high fever. Please help her, doctor. I don’t know where the other doctor is but I don’t want this lady to die.” Misao and Dr. Genzai both rushed to Megumi’s side. It was true, she was burning up. “Is she going to be okay?” Misao blurted out. “She’s got a very high temperature. If this fever doesn’t break then we may have complications,” Dr. Genzai said frankly. “However, I do have some medications that may help.” Misao roughly grabbed the cloth from the foreigner’s hand and began to pat it against Megumi’s face. “I’ll take care of her,” she said, glaring at the blond man. He looked startled but then glared back at her. “Doctor, do you think that you could take a quick look at my shoulder? Some thugs sliced it up.” They both looked at his shoulder. It was caked with dried blood. “Good Lord!” the doctor gasped. “Come with me. That needs to be cleaned right away. Misao, keep cooling her. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” She nodded and glowered at the spot where the foreigner had been sitting. “Stupid jackass. Serves him right. Next time I’ll be the one to cut him up.” Megumi suddenly moaned. Misao felt her forehead. She was getting even hotter. “Megumi-san? Don’t worry. You’ll be fine. This fever will surely break. And then you’ll be up and taking care of patients and yelling at Sano. He’s totally in love with you, you know. I’ll bet that you’re in love with him too.” She frowned as she dabbed the wet cloth upon Megumi’s face. “I’m not about to let that punk-ass blond man wreck my plans. Your love is Sano not that stupid kissy-face. Damn him. Why the hell did he have to show up, anyways?” She cursed luridly. “Hey Weasel!” Yahiko announced as he walked into the room. “Since when did you wanna be a doctor?” She looked up, surprised to see Yahiko. “How did you know I’d be here?” “Aoshi told me to come here and get you.” “Aoshi-sama…!!!” she began to mutter darkly under her breath. “Hey, is that Fox?” Yahiko exclaimed, coming closer. She nodded, looking down at Megumi. “She has a very high fever. If we don’t get her to cool down then who know what will happen. She’s gotta get better otherwise...” “Sano will kill us if we don’t get her better,” he said. “Should I go bring him here? Kenshin and Ugly will want to come too.” Misao thought for a moment and then shook her head. “I’ve got a better idea. I’ll go and explain the situation to everyone. But in the meantime you’ve gotta do something really important.” He rolled his eyes. “I’m not a baby, you know. I know how to sit and cool a fever. You just pat the cloth on her face. It’s not exactly-” “I’m not talking about that,” she interrupted. She lowered her voice and leaned closer to Yahiko. “You know that foreign blond guy that’s in with Dr. Genzai?” “You mean Kiiro?” “So that’s the moron’s name,” she muttered. “You know him?” Yahiko shrugged. “I seen him around.” “Well that guy’s a first class asshole,” she informed him. “I don’t what happened but when I came in here, he was all over Megumi-san and he was even kissing her. And she was unconscious!!!!!!” “He was kissing Sano’s woman???!!!” Yahiko shouted. “Ssshhh, yes,” she whispered. “So while I’m gone, look after Megumi-san until Dr. Genzai comes back. And what ever you do, don’t let him anywhere near Megumi-san. Even if you have to fight him, do it. He’s just a lousy foreigner anyways.” Yahiko cracked his knuckles just like Sano would. “You can count on me. Kiiro will rue the day he met me!!!” He grinned. “I can’t wait to see Sano kick his ass!!!!!!” Misao grinned back. “Me either, Yahiko-chan.” Yahiko began to pat Megumi’s face when he realized what Weasel had called him. “I’m not Yahiko-chan!” he grumbled. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Internet FileZone: Always FREE!
