And there is some swearing *Sano style* and a scene that is not lemon...but maybe stimulated lemon? Just in case anyone is offended...but I doubt it cause it so tiny and there's nothing there....just you never know.....and be preapred for more of that stupid jerk Kiiro *damn I hate him* Part Four Fighting for the Lady of Silence “Kenshin something dire has happened!” Kaoru announced, slamming the door shut and rushing over to him. Kenshin, who was sitting on the edge of his bed was deep in thought. He didn’t even realize that Kaoru had entered the room. He was simply too busy trying to come up with some kind of argument that would knock some sense into Sano’s thick skull. “Kenshin would you believe that...Kenshin? Kenshin? KENSHIN!!!” Kaoru yelled, an inch away from his face. “Oro,” he gasped. “Kaoru-dono, I mean Kaoru. I didn’t realize that you were here.” “Yeah, obviously,” she said, disgustedly. “How can you just sit there when we have a crisis on our hands? A crisis Kenshin, a real, full blown crisis!!!” Kenshin was unable to repress a smile as he watched her pace back and forth. She was so cute when she was agitated. But then again, she was cute all the time. “Oro, what’s worrying you?” he asked, wanting to kiss her. She stopped pacing and looked over at him. “Kenshin, brace yourself.” She paused for effect and then blurted out, “Everyone has disappeared!!!” He couldn’t help it. He burst out laughing. “How can you laugh at a time like?” she demanded, pacing again. “I can’t find anybody!!! Even Aoshi, who I thought would be off meditating somewhere, is gone!!! I don’t understand it. If I had made dinner then I suppose that I could understand why everybody would disappear. But you made dinner today! You cook well so I just don’t understand where everyone went.” He stood up and roughly pulled her into his arms. Her eyes widened. “Kenshin? What are you doing? Didn’t you hear a word I said?” “Everyone has disappeared,” he said softly, tracing her lips. “Do you know what that means?” She wrapped her arms around his neck, the crisis forgotten. “It mean that’s we are all alone,” she answered huskily. “Are you thinking of doing something special with me, Kenshin darling?” He kissed her deeply and brushed her hair out of her beautiful eyes. “I’m thinking of doing with you some...” “Yes,” she whispered breathlessly, looking up into his deep violet eyes. “...laundry.” “NANI????!!!!” Kenshin looked surprised. “Now that no one is here, I can finally finish the laundry. You can help me, if you want to.” “YOU WANT TO WASH CLOTHING????!!!! Kenshin was surprised at the vehemence in her voice. “You don’t have to do any laundry if you don’t want to, Kaoru-dono.” Kaoru closed her eyes and prayed for patience. She just didn’t understand how Kenshin could be so bloody damn clueless all the time. “Oro?” he asked worriedly, wondering if she was going to beat him. She opened her eyes and gave him a sultry look. If he didn’t understand then was going to have to spell in out for him. “Kenshin, I’m not going to do any laundry and neither are you.” He swallowed nervously at the saucy look in her eyes and the huskiness of her voice. “Oro...what are we going to do, then?” She giggled seductively and pressed her body up against his. Her lips touched his ear. “We’re going to.......” Kenshin gasped loudly and then blushed at all the things she was describing. He was shocked senseless and could only manage one faint “Oro...” before Kaoru smothered him with kisses and began to remove his gi. ************************************* Misao ran down the hallway, heading towards Kenshin’s room when Aoshi suddenly stepped into her path. She slammed into him and fell down. She cursed under her breath. “Why do I keep falling down, damnit?” Aoshi leaned down, grabbed her hand and hauled her to her feet. “Misao we-” “Later Aoshi-sama,” she said impatiently, trying to pull her hand away from his iron grip. “I need to see Himura and Kaoru pronto.” “You and I are need to talk, Misao,” he replied and pulled her up against him. Her eyes widened. That had certainly caught her attention. “Aoshi-sama?” “Yes?” he asked softly, cupping her face in his hands. He began to tenderly stroke her cheeks. She gulped, shocked by these turn of events. But there was a more urgent issue that needed to be addressed. “Aoshi-sama, Megumi-san might be dying.” He let go of her. “Nani?” “I just went to see her. She’s burning up with a very high fever. I need to tell everyone. Please? And then we can...um...” she blushed, “...talk.” He nodded; watching her with his dark blue eyes in such a way that her knees felt weak and her breath began to shorten. “I’ll tell Sanosuke.” “Um...where is he?” she asked, looking away from his intense gaze. “He went to the nomiya to drink sake.” She flushed as she looked up at him and quickly looked away. “Will you wait for me? I would like to go with you. I need to talk to him.” He nodded. “Go. Hyaku.” She nodded and ran down the hall to Kenshin’s room. She burst through the doors. “HIMURA WE HAVE A CRISIS ON OUR AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!” Aoshi had been waiting for that. He knew exactly what Himura and Kaoru were up to. Wait until he did that with Misao. Kenshin was lying on the bed with Kaoru on top of him, kissing him hungrily. His gi was lying on the floor and Kaoru’s kimono was gaping wide open. They were both moaning and oro-ing. When Misao made her untimely presence known both love birds gasped and quickly jerked away from each other. Kenshin blushed to the roots of his red hair and scrambled to put on his gi. “Orrrrooooooooo,” he groaned, completely mortified. Kaoru on the other hand was not so quiet in her embarrassment. “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO DO, YOU STUPID WEASEL????!!!!” she screeched while hastily pulling up her kimono. “HAVEN’T YOU EVER HEARD OF KNOCKING BEFORE????!!!!” Misao flushed and closed her eyes. Then it registered what Kaoru had called her. “WHO ARE YOU CALLING WEASEL, RACOON GIRL????!!!!” she yelled back. “HOW DARE YOU INVADE MY PRIVACY AND THEN CALL ME NAMES YOU STUPID WEASEL!!!!!!!!” “SHUT UP YOU RACOON IDIOT!!!!!!!!” “THERE’S ONLY ONE IDIOT IN THIS ROOM, WEASEL!!!!!!!!” “I WOULDN’T SPEAK SO HIGHLY OF YOURSELF, RACOON!!!!!!!!” “Oro,” Kenshin lamented as he watched the two with a large sweatdrop. ************************************* The cool night air washed over Sano as he left the very crowded, very hot nomiya where he had polished off enough sake that would have made Hiko Seijuro proud. He had just wanted to drown away his problems, drown away all his dreams of things that would never be, drown away her. Apparently, it didn’t matter how much sake he drank because he still was sober. Nothing had been forgotten. Least of all not her. It seemed as though all his drinking had been a frivolous waste of time and only served to further enhance his painful memories of her. It was impossible. He simply couldn’t get her out of his mind. She was haunting him with her silky long hair and her lost, tragic eyes. His hands ached to hold her and never let go. Would she ever realize how much pain she was putting him through? Pain he would gladly suffer if it meant that she would be his. But she would never be his. He was unworthy of her and she didn’t want him. Until today, he had always harbored just a tiny bit of hope, deep within his soul. He had argued and verbally played with her to cover up what he really felt. Even though he knew that he wasn’t worthy of her, he still hoped. But he now knew that he had been a fool. Worse than a fool. The scene in the clinic this afternoon had told him that. She had been so cold, so distant. She had barely even looked at him, let alone talked to him. “Couldn’t it be that she’s simply ill? Remember what Jo-chan said this afternoon? She was tired and ill looking yesterday and could barely talk then,” a soft voice within reminded him. “And what did Kenshin tell you? Go see her. It wouldn’t hurt. You could just stop by and peek in the window. You don’t have to talk to her.” He cursed luridly for about five minutes straight when he realized that his feet were automatically moving in the direction of her clinic. But it would be worth it, just to see her sweet face once more. Maybe he could make her smile........ “You fucking fool,” he berated himself bitterly. Even now he was still wishing and hoping for things impossible. Like chasing a star, it was hopeless. After few more minutes of him cursing himself and thinking about Megumi, he approached the clinic. He was relieved to see that the small building was aglow with lights. That meant she was still working. He let out a sigh of relief that he hadn’t even known he had been holding. Stalking towards the clinic and he entered. Voices were coming from one of the resting rooms in the back. He headed towards them. When he reached the room, he was surprised to see that Yahiko was there. He and a blond foreigner were standing around one of the beds, looking concerned. Dr. Genzai was sitting on the bed attending to a patient. “Oy, Yahiko,” he called, striding into the room. “What are you doing here?” They all looked over at him. “Whose in the bed? Kenshin? Lemme guess. Jo-chan beat the hell outta him again, didn’t she?” He looked around. “Where’d Fox lady disappear off to?” “Sanosuke,” Dr. Genzai began, gently. “Megumi is the one in this bed.” “WHAT????!!!!” he stalked to the bed and shoved Yahiko out of the way. “WHO THE FUCK DID THIS TO HER????!!!! I’LL KILL THE BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!” “Nobody did anything to her,” Dr. Genzai soothed. “Kiiro here found her lying on the floor.” Sano gazed down at her. She looked so pale, so ill. But still so beautiful. “What’s wrong with her? Is she hurt? Will she be okay? How the hell did this happen?” “She has a very high fever, Sano. Not only that but she seems to be having trouble breathing. If her fever doesn’t break soon then she may....” he trailed off. Sano grabbed the doctor by the scruff of his gi. “SHE MAY WHAT????!!!!” The doctor looked away, saying nothing. “Her fever will break,” Yahiko said, uncertain of what to say. He had never seen Sano this rattled. Sano sat down beside her and took her hand. He said nothing. Dr. Genzai motioned for them to leave the two alone. Kiiro followed the doctor and the bratty boy out of the room. He was steamed. Was the doctor blind? How could he even think to leave Megumi alone with that uncouth barbarian? Who was he anyways and how dare he simply waltz in there yelling foul profanities and then get to stay in there with her alone. He certainly didn’t deserve the privilege of being alone with her and comforting her. “I should be the one to stroke her brow and hold her hand and comfort her,” he thought bitterly. “Not that ill bred mongrel. Megumi deserves better. Someone refined and polished and genteel and cultured. Someone like me.” The young, loud boy looked over at him. “Did you say something, Kiiro-san?” He shook his head, not realizing that he had been muttering aloud. “Don’t worry about Fox, I mean about Megumi-san. Sano’s now here. He’ll take care of her. She IS his women afterall,” Yahiko lied and smirked at the devastation in the foreigner’s face. “Wh...wh...what did you ju...just say?” he sputtered. Yahiko looked at him innocently. “I said that Sano’s here and he’ll take care of Megumi-san.” “Not that,” he cried impatiently. “After that. What did you say after that?” “Um...nani?” Yahiko said, trying not to laugh. He pretended to look confused. “ABOUT HER BEING HIS WOMEN!!!!!!!!!” Dr. Genzai looked up from mixing different medicines together. “Please lower your voice, Kiiro-san. This is a clinic not a bar.” “Gomen,” he apologized, flushing. Yahiko snickered. “What did you say about her being his women?” he demanded in a furious whisper. “Oh that,” Yahiko respond breezily. “Yeah, Sano loves Megumi to pieces. He’d do anything for her. If he finds out that you were kissing her he’ll bash your brains out and break all your bones and drink your blood.” Kiiro turned a very white color. “Excuse me. I need to speak with Dr. Genzai.” He hurried towards the doctor. Yahiko watched him satisfied. Wait until he told Misao about this. She’d laugh her head off for days. ************************************* Megumi was still surrounded by the thick darkness. But this black night was no longer oppressive. She felt as though a great burden had been lifted off her shoulders. All her pain and soul aching wretchedness had been caste off like a frail dream spun of the finest bisque. This darkness was no longer a fear to her. It wasn’t meant to fear. It was simply a guise. She knew that now. Rather, in the distance, beyond all the black there was gleaming hope. A place where she would be safe and loved. A place where shattered rainbows would forever dance. Walking deeper into shadows, the cool winds gently caressed all her memories away. “FOX LADY!!!” Words that slashed though the night like an agonizing memory. The deep voice sounded so familiar. But what was it doing here in this inky dream? She looked over, seeking through the murky shade for the owner of the voice. Some distance away stood a very tall figure. She was surprised to discover that she was able to see him for a faint glow was shining around him. Slowly, she turned away from the person. She had always been alone. He was of no significance to her. Her peace was waiting for her in the dusk; it didn’t lie with he who was calling her. She didn’t need him. She didn’t need anyone. They wouldn’t understand. “Megumi.” His voice again but now it seemed different. There was something acutely familiar in it. An element that she knew all too well. Suffering. It was there, soft and sweet in his voice, as he whispered her name. But why? Had she done something to him? Who was he and why did he even care? He was stretching his arms out to her, calling her quietly. Liquid magnetism coiled in his voice and she couldn’t help but be drawn to him. “Will you leave without saying good bye, Megumi?” he asked gently, his words wafting across the short distance between them. His dark brown eyes filled with a silent hurt and subdued longing. She looked at him puzzled. There was something familiar about his appearance and yet his mannerisms seemed all wrong. Who was he and why was he concerned about her? She tried to remember something, anything. Like this closed night, so too were her memories. He was watching her and suddenly he smiled. Even though that smile seemed doleful and so lost, there was something poignantly pure about it. It appeared to slice into the night and envelop her. “My lady of Silence,” he whispered and then roughly pulled her into his arms. She gasped, shocked by his unexpected gesture. His arms went around her waist and he pulled her closer against his chest, as if he was trying to absorb her into him. Her only response was to wrap her arms around his neck. Nothing had ever felt so safe, so right. Everything was forgotten as she clung to him. “How could you even think of leaving me?” he groaned, burying his face into her hair. “Don’t you know how much I love you? You’re my everything, quiet one.” “Sano,” she whispered and she knew. She knew that this was where she would find her shattered rainbows. ______________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Internet FileZone: Always FREE!
