From: "Pearl Louis" Hi everyone, Thanks a lot for all the comments on "Innocent Killer". Sorry I took so long to reply but I'm in the middle of exams right now. If I never see another Hamiltonian in my life I'll be happy. I have to agree that the white plums thing wasn't such a good idea. It was inspired by a particular scene at the end of the first OAV. Anyway I'm going to take references to it out. It won't change the story that much anyway. Well this story is actually a scene later on in "Innocent Killer". And yes I do tend to write disjointly even though I don't even have all the chronology or what's going to happen yet. I haven't been writing because of study but I took an hour off today to write this because I liked the idea and I was sick of wavefunctions. I don't really think there's much spoiler in this story as even I don't really know what's going to happen next. Saitou may seem a bit OOC in this but I was thinking that this is before the Bakmatsu, Saitou would be younger and a bit less hard. All anyone knows of Okita is that he's a nice guy so I had a bit of latitude with him though I do think I made him a little too carefree, after all he is the captain of a unit but then again this is a very very very rough draft. Actually I think the feel of this is too modern but oh well I'll modify it later when I have time. And Tokio's it in it too (you'll see how). Oh well back to third year physics and maths. Lou Jan-Yun OKITA VS. SAITOU Okita limped along the mountain trail supported by a battered and bruised Saitou. They were lucky to get out of the ravine alive before the explosion had buried them all under hundreds of tons of rock. .(a serious talk between Okita and Saitou I have yet to write) "Saitou why do you insist of living all by yourself? I've invited you to stay with me and my sister many times. It's unhealthy to live alone like you do." Okita asked in his sweet gentle voice. Saitou snorted, "I wouldn't survive until sunset in your house. I barely survived dinner last time I was over." "Well it was your fault for telling Tokio that she shouldn't eat so much and whether that kimono had shrunk since last time you came." "Aho, I only spoke the truth." "Anyway it turned out that the kimono had shrunk. She did it deliberately." "I can't imagine what reason can be." Saitou said. Okita rolled his eyes. He couldn't work out whether his friend was being honest or just stubborn. Suddenly his foot gave way on some rocks. He stifled his gasp of pain as the sudden movement pulled at the wound on his side. However Saitou ever observant noticed his friend's reaction. Gently his put Okita on the g round. The wound on his side was bleeding profusely. Ripping more of his robes, Saitou used the cloth to rebind his companion's wounds. Gently he wiped the sweat off his pale boyish face before giving him some water. "We should rest here now," Saitou stated, Okita sighed in relief. He didn't know how much further he could go on without a rest but his sense of honour had stopped him from complaining. "That red-head boy was good. I haven't seen anyone give you such a severe wound for a long time. Why didn't he kill you?" Okita sighed. "There were reasons." When the captain of the First Company of the Shinsengumi didn't elaborate Saitou glanced at him curiously but decided not to press the issue just now. "I can't wait to get home, to see Tokio again. She must be worrie d about me." "She understands your work. One of her few good traits is that she is one of the few women I know who can keep her mouth shut." At this Saitou's face became flushed. It wasn't much but for Saitou it was the equivalent of his face turning tomato red and a nosebleed. Okita of course jumped on the opportunity. "So what have you and my sister been up to Saitou?" he asked slyly. "Nothing." "Ohhhhh. So why is it I found a picture of you in her room with love hearts all over it and the name Saitou Tokio. Of course it also looked like it had been used as a dartboard and had the words "kill" and "baka" written all over it." "No idea." "And why did I see you running away from her room at midnight last week." Saitou's blush deepened in intensity and his eyelids began to twitch ever so slightly." "Oh well if I have to ask Tokio." "OK OK," Saitou bit out. "I'll tell you. Just promise you will never utter a word about this to anyone else or I'll consider you Aku and then I'll Soku Zan you little." "The story Saitou the story." Saitou straightened his back and glared at Okita before beginning in his best "I'm going to Gotatsu you if you don't shut up" voice. "Do you remember last week how all my cigarettes went missing?" Okita grinned his sweet boyish grin which looked a almost surreal coming from his pale bloody face, "How could I forget. You were um behaviourably indisposed all week. Well more indisposed than usual that is." "After making some well investigations I was convinced your sister had taken them." Okita's eyes blinked in surprise. "Is that why you disappeared for several days last week? I thought Habiki (is that the right name?) sent you to assassinate someone!" Saitou gave him a dirty look and his hands looked like they itched for his katana. "OK, OK go on with your story." "I had suspected your sister's culpability in the theft of the cigarettes as I recalled many occassions when I she had display her.dislike of them. After more investiagtion I concluded she had motive and opportunity to appropriate my cigarettes." Saitou's hard gaze quickly switched to Okita's face when he heard a suspiciously hight pitched squeak from his friend. However Okita just gave him his usual sweet smile. Inside he laughed manically. Saitou was talking like he was discussing one of the investigations their leaders gave him. Find out who killed the Shogun's eldest son Hajime. The Ishinshishi have been giving us a lot of trouble Saitou. Find their headquarters and exterminate them. There are traitors in the Shinsengumi Saitou. You know what to do. "Yes-Aku, Soku, Zan." Okita's face tightened at the memory.so many friends and brothers dead by his best friend's hands. How could Saitou live with the memories? Okita's attention switched back to the present when he found the subject of his thoughts gazing at him with a puzzled look on his face. He just gave his boyish grin. Saitou snorted in irritation but secretly he was glad Okita was back to normal. That look on his eyes before, it was almost as if Okita hated him. He remembered the talk they had before. No please don't let him hate me. But you would kill him in an instant if they told you to, his inner voice whispered to him. "Well get on with it!" Okita said. "Aho. Well I decided to retrieve my cigarettes. So at midnight I entered your sister's room." "And." "It seemed she had been expecting me." This time Okita couldn't contained his laughter. However it was immediately followed by a gasp of pain. He had forgotten about his wound. Saitou however was grinnning like a wolf. At least the wound meant he wouldn't have to watch his friend roll about the ground laughing his head off. "Are you OK?" "Yes, yes.Agggg. Don't tell me she tied you up." Saitou's face reddened even more. "Errr. she did. As soon as I entered the room a pail of water fell on me and while I was still surprised she got a rope and lassooed me." Okita's face was a curious colour now as he was trying to hold in his laughter. "I thought you were used to anticipating traps." "How the hell was I supposed to know your 18 year old sister had such a devious mind anyway. Well at least I know deviousness runs in your family now. Anyway were did Tokio learn to do that lassoo trick anyway?" "Oh Mother must have taught her." "Okita, you have a strange family." "Yes you see..." "I really don't want to know." "Oh." "Anyway I was dripping wet and securely tied up and then your sister appeared in a very err tight off-shoulder kimono. She said well lets not get into what she said. Then she sought of laughed into her fan and then she err, umm." Saitou's face was really red now. His voice had lost its usual gruffness and cynicism. Okita his grin even wider sidled closer. "She." "Well that is she." "Saitou, just tell me!" "Shekissedme." Saitou said in a rush. He took a deep breath giving Okita the glare of death as even his wound couldn't keep him from bursting out in laughter. "Then she said err." "Yes," Okita's face was almost stretched apart by his grin. "ShesaidWhenshouldwegetmarriedAnata." Saitou's voice was almost strangled by now. "Is that why you were running across the lawn looking as if your worse nightmare was chasing after you (l had to fix that hole you Gotatsued in my wall)?" "Well at that point I wasn't really thinking straight. I just remember breaking the rope and well running for it (Don't you dare try to send me the bill)." When Okita finally recovered from his laughing fit (well hysterical laughter combine with gasps of pain) he asked Saitou breathlessly, "Why didn't you just ask me to get the cigarettes back instead of sneaking into Tokio's room in the middle of the night." "Mmmummmm" "What was that?" "Iwrommedtrobllrler." "What?" "I didn't want to get her into trouble OK?!" Okita just smiled sweetly, shaking his head. "Well there might be hope for you yet Saitou." The stars shone above the mountaintop and the two friends as it had for millions of years. A voice rang out in the darkness. "So did you enjoy the kiss.Ouch Saitou! That hurt!" Another voice spoke, dry and full of cynicism, "Sorry Okita I thought that was a spider." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Having difficulty getting "in synch" with list members? http://www.onelist.com Try ONElist's Shared Calendar to organize events, meetings and more!
