Subject: [kffdisc] Running away with your imagination- The Misao Working Girl challenge Date: Wed, 5 May 1999 17:19:46 -0700 (PDT) From: Rurichan and Harichan Reply-To: kffdisc@onelist.com To: kffdisc@onelist.com From: Rurichan and Harichan Here is a badly plot driven Aoshi and Misao story, I was actually concentrating more on the Misao and Aoshi interaction scenes. Think Marmalade Boy and Aoshi and Misao drawn 70’s shoujo manga style, you know the one with those stars in their eyes. ^^ The characters in this story aren’t mine, not will they ever be. Sadly neither are the 3 names I used, Suoh (funny how straight-laced Suoh gets drunk), Akira, and Nokoru belong to Clamp. But I did get to write them to my liking. bwahahaha. ~Running Away With Your Imagination~ Misao gingerly balanced herself on her knees as she leaned as far as she could, her ear trained to booth next to her. After days of working at the Shirobeko, Misao had trained herself to pick out coversations in the busy restaurant. One false move and she would send the wall of the booth crashing on them. She made a face at the image of her falling on them. That day 3 men were sitting around the sukiyaki in conversation. Usually it was whining about authorites not giving them any slack. She remembered the conversation Aoshi and Okina had with her. It was mostly Okina, who was rather excited about the idea, talking for Aoshi. ------------------- “Misao...” Aoshi said. “Hai Aoshi-sama?” Misao asked attentive to his everyword. “I have a favor to ask you.” he said. “Anything Aoshi-sama.” Misao said, pleased that he had asked her to do a favor. “Only you can do this favor for me.” he said. Misao pressed closer to him, her face turned up, and her eyes sparking, “Yes?” At this point Misao had drifted off into a romantic stupor. Where at this point in her romantic trip, Aoshi had taken her hand and looked down at her with a suave look and smile (that sparkled once) and said, “I love you will you marry me?” To which romantically induced Misao said, “Haaahaiiiiiiii Aoshi-sahhhmahh.” “I appreciate it,” non-romantic Aoshi’s voice said after, “Since no one would guess that a girl would be spying.” Misao snapped out of her romantic trip and sputtered, “Spuh-Spy? Are you crazy?!” “Yes,” Okina broke in, “It was Aoshi’s idea, but please you’re the only one that can do it, please work at the Shriobeko and spy on this group for us.” “I- I- can’t spy! Omasu is better than me at spying.” “Omasu is too obvious.” Okina said. “Come on do it for Aoshi.” ‘I appreciate it...’ Aoshi’s words echoed through her mind. She grumbled under her breath, “Sure use Aoshi as a way to get me to work there.” and then sighed loudly rolling her eyes, “Ok, what do I have to do and what kind information are you looking for?” ------------- “Misa-chan! More Sake!” a group of regulars called. Misao silently cursed the interruption, slipped out of her hiding place and said, “Haiiii more sake!” she went to get the sake and sighed, she’d have to rethink her strategy, she needed to befriend the three men. She smiled at the reason why Aoshi (Okina) asked her to do the job. ----------------- “Now Aoshi was trying to figure out why a man like Saitoh was always alone. We know he has a wife. We just need to know where she is and/or who she is.” “What!? You mean this isn’t some big scale spying on some heads of a yakuza group?!” she crossed her arms, “There goes part of my motivation.” she grumbled. “Actually you do.” Okina said. “Some of the members were friends with Saitoh.” Okina said. “You can probably get them to talk about Saitoh’s old days and find any leads. We want to know who she is and where she is.” “Sure and while we’re at it we can find a way to make myself taller and more beautiful so Aoshi-sama can notice me.” Misao muttered under her breath. “What was that?” Okina asked. “Nothing.” Misao said. --------------------- Days had passed and Misao had finally gotten the three men to accept her as their regular server. “Ahhhh Misa-chan!” Akira said waving an empty cup. “Hai hai more sake.” Misao said as she poured. “I can’t believe Saitou,” Suoh said. “Saitou?” Misao said her ears perking up. “Yeshhh.” Suoh slurred. “One would think that he’d give hish ol’ buddies a break...” “Especially considering we go a ways back.” Nokoru said as he nabbed a piece of sukiyaki. “Ohhhh?” Misao said interested she poured more sake for the men. “Do you know Saitou?” Akira asked smiling up at Misao with a flirtacious look. Misao smiled down at Akira and said, “He and I have some history together.” Akira smiled, “Heh.” “So how far back do you guys and Saitou go?” Misao asked. Akira laughed, “Too far back.” “We were his good friends, but now that we’ve turned to a life of crime we’re his enemies.” Nokoru said. “We were there at hish wedding.” Suoh said. “Shhhhh we’re not supposed to tell.” Nokoru said as he stuffed more meat into his mouth. “Wedding? I didn’t know he was married.” Misao said innocently. “Oh yes he is. But she lives far away from here.” “Where exactly?” Misao asked as she poured more sake for Akira giving him a flirtatious smile. “We don’t know but a friend of Suoh’s sister knows.” Akira said smiling up at her. Misao almost kissed Akira, hook, line, and sinker. “Akira! We weren’t supposed to tell!” Suoh exclaimed shaking a finger at him. Misao smiled at Akira and said, “Its ok.” “Misa-chan! A table needs sake!” Misao turned, “Haiii!” she called. A few days later Misao was at their table again serving sake. “Ahhh! Misha-chan where have you been? We mished you.” Suoh said. Misao smiled, “I had to take care of a few things. But please be here tomorrow at noon. Lunch is on me. Saitoh should be making an apperance.” she winked at them as she went to serve sake. “Well, well, What is it that you want Aoshi?” Saitou said as he entered the Shirobeko. “You know Sae’s policy on fighting in the restaurant. Is this going to be a cook off?” “You know... that wouldn’t be a bad idea...” Okina said, “One hour, 2 chefs, one special ingredient, at least 5 dishes distinct dishes... We can call it Ultimate Chef... no, no, that’s too cheesey, Iron Chef, yeah... Iron chef sounds good.” “Yeah that idea will work well.” Misao muttered. “I don’t intend to fight Saitou.” Aoshi said in his usual toneless voice, which could have passed off as a nonchalant tone. “But I do intent to give you a surprise.” “What could you possibly know that could surprise me?” Saitou said as he took a drag off his cigarette and flicked the ash to the side. Misao moaned, this scene was turning out to be a melodramatic stand-off. Suddently it didn’t sound so bad. Aoshi stood with his trenchcoat and his two kodachi (sheathed, they were in the Shirobeko after all.) His trenchcoat was flapping dramatically in the wind. His face emotionless, like a classic hero. Saitou stood opposite him in his police uniform and his katana at the side (also sheathed) his gloved hand held the other glove while the other hand was flicking ash to the side. The ash flew about, catching the sunlight that streamed through the Shirobeko’s open door. He looked like the oppressive bad guy, with his cold smile and dark eyes. Okina looked like the venerable old man that had fought many many battles and survived to tell them. He watched the pair face off with a wise look as if he knew who had won already. And Misao? She stood there in her Shirobeko uniform, red and white striped kimono, white apron, white kerchief, loose hair. Her clothes had miraculously caught a draft and were gently floating. Her hair was flying in the breeze. She had her hands clasped at her chest, her eyes sparkling and gazing at Aoshi with love. Her mouth was slightly parted as if she was silently saying Aoshi’s name. “Lovely day for a walk isn’t it?” a voice asked, interrupting Misao’s romantic trip of bliss. Saitoh nodded and said, “Yes a nice day.” as he turned to the source. He choked on his cigarette smoke and froze. “To-tokio!? What are you doing here!?” the cigarette dropped out of his mouth. He remembered who the person smiling up at him was and quickly snuffed it out. Misao hid her face behind her apron. She had to stiffle the laughter that threatened to come out. Saitou never knew what was coming to him! “Tsk tsk anata, is that how you should address your wife?” Tokio said. She turned to Aoshi, “Thank you for inviting me to spend the day with my husband.” She turned to Saitoh, “Surprise!” “To-tokio...” was all Saitou could say. “Wasn’t it nice of Shinomori-san to invite me to Kyoto for a few days? I haven’t seen your for months.” “Yes, how nice of Aoshi.” Saitou said in a deadly voice, his eyes glancing at Aoshi who just stood there impassive. Misao could almost imagine that Aoshi’s eyes were sparkling with laughter. “Table for four?” Sae asked. “Why yes.” Tokio said. “I am dying to meet Saitou’s friends. Come, come. Let’s sit.” she smiled up at Saitou, “And what good friends you have.” Saitou could only put on a good face as he escorted his wife to an empty booth. Which just happened to be across from Suoh, Akira, and Nokoru. “Saitou! How have you been?” Suoh said. “Tokio! It’s been a while.” “Suoh, how have you been? Akira! Nokoru! What a surprise seeing you here. Come, come sit with us.” Misao laughed at the sight of Saitou going pale. She never knew Saitou could look that white. Misao sighed, “How romantic.” Aoshi turned to Misao, “Misao have a question to ask you.” “Yes Aoshi-sama?” Misao asked breathlessly, her eyes sparking, her face turned up at him. At this point, suave Aoshi took romantic induced Misao’s hands and said, “You are my last hope.” his trenchcoat flaped dramatically in the romantic wind. “Yesssss?” she exhaled. “Will you run away and marry me?” he said looking down into her eyes with his love filled eyes. “Anything Aoshi-saaahhmahh.” she said breathlessly. “I really appreciate it. She likes you more than me and you know how crabby our neighboor gets-” deadpan Aoshi said. “What?!” she exclaimed and pulled away. “Awww come on Misao-chan, do it for Aoshi.” Okina said popping from behind Aoshi. Misao groaned and said, “The things I do for Aoshi-sama.” -------------------- Rurichan- who is off to write Sake and Sakura 6 _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
