Subject: [kffdisc] Kenshin & Yahiko's Haiku (Plus Comments on Posted Haiku) Date: Fri, 7 May 1999 19:37:12 EDT From: MizunoAmi1@aol.com Reply-To: kffdisc@onelist.com To: kffdisc@onelist.com From: MizunoAmi1@aol.com Hi! Having the RK characters write haiku is really cool idea. I've loved reading haiku for many years, and I used to write some of my own. =) A little info on haiku for those interested: Often in haiku is the name of the season, or a key word giving the season by inference. This allows the reader to immediately comprehend the weather, the foilage, the bird & insect life, and the emotions traditional to the season. Also, a good haiku is more than merely a statement of feeling or a picture of nature; there is an implied identity between two seemingly different things. Here are three poems I imagine that were written by Kenshin in a personal journal which one else has ever read.... Lovely plum bossom Softly fell to blood-stained earth Dear white butterfly ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beside laughing stream The scent of jasmine petals Is fondly recalled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My heart always smiles At starlike blue eyes aglow Cheerful tanuki. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now a haiku written by Yahiko in a love-sick mood: Innocent swallow Will your wings embrace me here Or are you shy yet? (Can you imagine? If the Kenshingumi ever got ahold of this, he'd be teased to no end. ^_^ ) Elizabeth and husband (namae wa?), I love your haiku! ^_^ Both of them were brilliant. Yep, you spelled oniichan correctly. Miss, also great poems! Especially the Kaoru one. The really neat thing abot haiku is that it can tell all about someone/something/a feeling in just a few select words. I hope you've enjoyed my haiku! =) -Stephanie <> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The possibilities are endless! http://www.onelist.com ONElist has something for everyone!
