Tamahome, Tasuki and Kenshin peer over the back of the couch at the ringing telephone.
Kenshin: Why's it doing that?

Tasuki: I don't know, but it's an instrument of the devil! Tae-chan can talk to Sae-chan on it... and Sae-chan lives 600 miles away!

Tamahome (whacking Tasuki on the head): Baaaaka! Tae-chan wouldn't have an instrument of the devil in her house.

Tasuki: Itai! That hurt! <thwack> (Tasuki whacks Tamahome with his fan)

Tamahome and Tasuki glare at each other. Tae's dog comes running in and stands staring at the phone wagging her tail.

Kenshin: Why's she doing that?
Tamahome: Don't know. Tae-chan says that she does it all the time and it's never for her. Whatever that means.
<ring ri...>
(pause)
Tasuki: All right! It's stopped!
(pause)
<ring ring>
Tasuki: Shimatta! All right...Lekka Shi---urk!.
<ring ring>
Kenshin: Oro...Tasuki-san, I don't think you should flame Tae-dono's--
Tamahome and Tasuki: Tae-chan's!!
Kenshin: --phone. Ano...Tamahome-san...
<ring ring>
Kenshin: Don't you think you should stop choking Tasuki-san? (Tasuki is turning blue.)
<ring ring>
Kenshin: Tae-dono--
Tamahome: Tae-chan
Tasuki: Ae-haaaaa
Kenshin: --probably won't like it if you throttle him.
<ring ring>
Tamahome (as he lets Tasuki go): He's right. Maybe we should answer it.
<ring ring>
Tasuki (gasping on the floor): Iiiiie! It's evil I tell you!
Kenshin (mumbling to himself): He sounds like Sano about trains.
<ring ring>
Tasuki: Nani?!
Kenshin: Nothing!!
Tamahome: Well, are we gonna answer it?
<ring ring>

Tamahome: Okay... who's gonna do it?
<ring ring>

Tamahome: What? Is fang-boy afraid of the phone?

Tamahome is toasted. In the meantime, Kenshin rounds the sofa and reaches for the phone.

Kenshin: ....oro?...
He pulls the phone away from his head and looks at it.
Tamahome and Tasuki: What's it doing?
Kenshin: It's buzzing.
Phone: <dial tone>
Across town, Tae hangs up the phone in her office.
Tae: What are those morons doing NOW?Some time later... back at the ranch...
<ring ri...>Kenshin, Tamahome and Tasuki are behind the couch again.
Tasuki: All right....NOW!Kenshin leaps over the sofa, flips the phone off the hook with his Sakabatou, and brings it to his ear.
Kenshin: Ano....hello?
(pause)
Kenshin: Oro?!
Tasuki & Tamahome: What? What?!
Kenshin looks down at Tae's dog, and then places the phone on the floor in front of her.
Kenshin: It's for her.
Tasuki and Tamahome: Oro?!
